My name is Belén Retamales Navarro, and I am a Chilean bookseller, political scientist and artisan. From a very young age I was fascinated with craft, but two years ago I discovered the soutache technique and really fell in love with it.
Creator's Perspective
My biggest inspirations are the colors and their infinite combinations, and all the shapes that you can create with a single thread to create unique pieces. The soutache technique is a technique that has been used since the 18th century, which was used to decorate the dresses and military uniforms of the time in France. Over time this technique evolved and today it is used to create beautiful pieces of jewelry in a unique and handcrafted style. The soutache cord is accompanied by crystals and Czech beads. The soutache pieces can be glued or sewn, I love to use both, since the technique to be used is given by the design to be made.
