Toshiko seeks to express the world around her and the world within her with simplicity. Best known as a colorist, her richly hued canvases frequently feature idealized landscapes and still lifes. Color is the real subject of her work, she uses color to exude passion in her compositions.
Creator's Perspective
In more recent years she has brought her engaging flair to graphical images, working more in abstraction, using circles and lines. Circles and lines give her the freedom to experiment with the expression of color, especially in the unique hues and tones of her native Japan.
