Central scrap bead – These earrings feature beads literally made out of the waste produced by the jewellery-making process at Mayaani Jewellery, which is an assortment of jewellery wire (silver plated/ copper/ gold), cotton thread, cotton yarn, and the odd beading needle (blunted and worked into smooth shapes). Each bead takes 30 minutes to make by hand, with care taken to ensure you can still enjoy seeing the scraps contained. This entire process means 95% of the waste generated by Mayaani Jewellery can be recycled on site. This pair of earrings took a total of 3 hours to create by hand.
