Garo folklore says that the gigantic mythical tree known as Kilbolmabore bore fruits and cotton as its flowers, so when a human saw this tree, he desired it. He tried to cut the huge tree for seven years, yet it didn’t even make a dent. At last he summoned the wind and sought help. With the wind’s immense strength, the huge tree fell to the ground. Now, some portion of the cotton got stuck in a dog’s tail, and the first cultivation of cotton started from there.
